Today is a big day in Bulgaria. It’s international womens day and from what I remember, most men are walking to work with flowers for their female colleagues. And then later in the day with flowers for their wifes and mothers. It’s nice to see so many people with flowers after the long, dark winter. It sets the mood for spring, optimism and positivity. Personally this fills me with energy. I was reminded of this custom by our receptionist who is handing a flower to every woman who enters the building.
On reflection though I prefer the UK split between 14th February and 18th March (Mother’s day). It’s a different type of joy and reason for celebration being loved by a man ( husband) and by children and they both deserve their special time. I’m not saying day as these types of celebrations are worth having every day of the year.
With that: Happy 8th March to my mother! Be very much loved by everyone around you ( in addition to me 😉 all year round!
And happy International women’s day to every woman reading this blog!
Happy women’s day to you to.
Thanks Sharada! Is 8th March celebrated in India?
